How to Study NTRUHS Anatomy With PYQs

Solving past question papers is one of the highest-yield preparation strategies for the NTRUHS Anatomy university exam. These tips are specific to how the paper is structured and how examiners at NTRUHS frame questions.

  • Prioritise applied anatomy. NTRUHS theory papers consistently reward answers that connect anatomical structures to clinical scenarios -- nerve lesions, joint dislocations, hernia anatomy. For each major nerve or joint you study, prepare one or two lines of clinical significance.
  • Diagrams carry marks. Anatomy answers with neat, labelled diagrams typically score better than text-only answers. Practice drawing brachial plexus, femoral triangle, inguinal canal, diaphragm, and shoulder joint diagrams from memory with labels.
  • Cover all four paper years. Working through the 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 papers will reveal which topics rotate and which ones have appeared in three or more years. Rotate topics do not always reappear -- but high-yield topics almost always do.
  • Do not neglect Histology and Embryology. Paper II questions on histology slides and embryological anomalies are easy marks if prepared systematically. Make a short note on each histology slide (identification features, function, distinguishing characteristics).
  • Practice timed answers. An NTRUHS Anatomy paper runs for three hours. Spend no more than 15 minutes on a long essay question and five to seven minutes on each short answer. Practise this pacing so you do not run out of time on familiar topics.
  • Osteology is a viva focus, not a theory focus. Bone identification and surface markings are primarily tested in practicals and viva. In theory, osteology appears in the context of joints and nerve lesions rather than standalone identification questions.
  • Link Neuroanatomy to applied neurology. Neuroanatomy questions at the NTRUHS level focus on spinal tracts, blood supply, and cranial nerve lesions with clinical correlations, not on detailed nuclei mapping. Keep neuroanatomy revision clinically framed.
